From some of the tastiest salt beef around to menus on menus lathered in BBQ sauce, Manchester is brimming with some of the best American grub this side of the pond. But now, our friends north of the border are sending us their finest, as Canadian treasure Tim Hortons is set to open another branch in the Manchester area this month, and it’s a biggun.
You can’t really understate how embedded in Canadian culture Tim Hortons is: for starters, it was founded by former ice hockey player and Toronto Maple Leafs legend Tim Horton (duh). Today, there are almost 5000 stores across the world serving coffee, doughnuts, and more, but there’s never been a branch with the largest drive-thru until now. Opening on August 29, the Trafford Park store promises to offer the full Tim Hortons experience. It’s by no means their first UK site, but we’re pretty chuffed that they’ve picked Manchester for this sizeable drive-thru.
With multiple branches already in the Manchester area such as Altrincham, Bury, Oxford Road, Prestwich and Stockport and opening a branch on Manchester’s Market Street in May this year, Tim Hortons has gone down well with Mancs and now the Canadian brand is back for more. That means bucketloads of coffee, doughnuts (including the infamous Timbits doughnut bites, available in flavours from birthday cake to sour cream glazed), and other fast food items.
As part of its Trafford Park launch, the first Tim Hortons fan in the drive-thru and restaurant queue will be awarded free drinks for a whole year, and the brand will also give away a free breakfast meal (a main breakfast item with a hash brown and small hot drink or orange juice) to its first 100 customers. To celebrate the opening, the brand will also run a series of weekly promotions starting with its well-loved Dark Roast Coffee, made with 100% arabica beans, for just 99p.
Tim Hortons will be open from 6am till midnight, seven days a week for in-store dining, drive-thru, or takeaway options, so whether you’re setting off round the M60 or getting a doughnut fix before a shopping spree at neighbouring Trafford Centre, it’s a handy option. So, guess it’s time to shimmy on down to Timmies, eh?
