Dating can be pretty tough, luckily the no-fuss app Thursday is heading to Manchester to make things a little bit easier. Designed for people who can’t stand dating apps and want to head to “places where everyone is single and there for it IRL”, this app comes to life just once a week (on a Thursday, would you believe?) at a secret location -usually in London or New York.

But this week, Mancs can get in on the dating action as Thursday hosts a ‘secret singles’ party at Ducie Street Warehouse, welcoming nearly 500 singletons down to meet and mingle on the Northern Quarter hotspot’s romantic sunny terrace. Plus, the trendy bar and restaurant just so happens to have a load of fancy hotel rooms above it… And it also hosts and caters for weddings, if you end up getting really lucky.
Thursday describes itself as “a singles member’s club that bridges the gap between online dating and offline experience” and this ‘secret singles’ party is certainly “not a shitty speed dating event” (their words, not ours). For the single people who simply just want to meet someone in a bar naturally, this event at Ducie Street Warehouse is the one for potentially meeting ‘the one’.
The dating event will be soundtracked by Sweet Vibrations Radio who will be kicking off the evening from 5pm, supplying the best in Neo-Soul, alternative RnB and Hip-Hop tunes. Taking place on Thursday 28 July from 7pm until late, tickets for the Manchester event are available to purchase via the Thursday dating app priced at £5 for entry before 9pm and £7.49 after 9pm. Once they are gone they are gone – there is no guarantee of entry post 9pm if the venue is at capacity.
Founder of Thursday app George Rawlings wanted to make dating less complicated and launched it from his bedroom last year. He hoped by narrowing the app to one day it would give users a sense of urgency to organise a date straight away and cut down on small talk.
