Three-Quarters Of Adults In The UK Have Now Had A Covid Vaccine

It comes one day after zero deaths from Covid-19 were reported across the country.

An estimate of three-quarters of adults in the UK has now received at least one Covid vaccine, according to the latest figures. It’s a milestone that will come as a relief to many as the UK takes on the challenge of easing lockdown restrictions while dealing with the issue of the rapidly spreading delta variant, which was first found in India.

Heath figures show that 39,585,665 first doses have now been given since the beginning of the vaccination programme in December 2020. Plus, they also show that nearly half of the country are fully vaccinated against the virus, with the figure currently standing at 49.5%.

In Wales, around 85% of adults have received their first dose, with 74.7% in England, 74.1% in Scotland and 73.1% in Northern Ireland. Anyone over 30 can now book their vaccine appointment online, and it is expected that this will open up to those aged 18+ in the next few weeks.

Yesterday (June 1), the UK recorded zero deaths within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test across the entire nation.
