
The new racquet sport of padel has been taking the world by storm and now the biggest and most sustainable padel facility in the North of England has arrived in Greater Manchester. Situated at TraffordCity, the new, £2.5m Padel Club facility kickstarts the club’s expansion plans and allows more people to try the sport out for themselves.
The Padel Club was established in Summer 2022 with two purpose-built courts located in Wilmslow, Cheshire, however the new hub at the 1.5-acre development within TraffordCity will be its first site in Greater Manchester and will be join other padel clubs in the region like Club de Padel and Manchester Padel Club. The new padel facility, which is open from March 22, will be neighbours to other future developments including surfing lagoon Modern Surf, wellbeing resort Therme Manchester and a ice rink Planet Ice next to the Chill Factore and iFLY.

The TraffordCity Padel Club facility will have 11 purpose-built and high specification courts of which; nine will be covered courts and two will be open air courts. The Padel Club TraffordCity is being delivered in two phases, with the first phase open from March 22, and consisting of five covered courts plus two outdoor courts.
The first phase also includes an onsite clubhouse, offering shower facilities, an onsite eatery and coffee bar serving up The Padel Club’s own special blend of coffee and a retail store selling Padel essentials. The plans also include a dedicated fitness and conditioning area, plus bleacher seating installed to maximise the viewer experience and add excitement when tournaments take place.

Phase two works include the completion of the second padel arena comprising of the remaining four indoor courts. The works are expected to be finished by summer this year and on its completion it will make the 11-court club the biggest padel facility in the North.
Developers say “sustainability has been considered within every detail of The Padel Club at TraffordCity” with the new facility benefitting from enhanced landscaping, insect housing, bird boxes and more space for ecology. Members and visitors to the TraffordCity club will also benefit from dedicated onsite EV charging points, allowing them to plug in whilst they play.

Construction is now immediately underway on Phase 2 of the facility, with an expectation to complete all work on site by the beginning of July. The Padel Club TraffordCity will be open from Saturday 22nd March with courts available to book via Playtomic.
