From retro cinema to concert hall (and a club night coming soon), the iconic Victoria Baths in Manchester has seen a fair few transformations from its original swimming pool days. However, this October, Mancs will able to wander through a sea of independent stalls surrounded by striking Edwardian architecture as The Night Market heads to Manchester.
Repurposing the empty swimming baths for one night only on October 7, The Night Market will take residence within the stunning Grade-II listed building to create the ultimate shopping experience meets an alternative festival night out. Filling the entirety of this extraordinary building with artisans to artists, jewellers to designers, bakers to candlestick makers (and so much more), The Night Market UK showcases the finest Mancunian small business talent with over 100 independent stalls.
Add to this, their outside Street Food Village to feast on with fabulous Manchester based food trucks, multiple bars to whet your whistle (wait until you see what they’re doing with the Steam Room!), alongside a Vintage Pool Party filled with the finest vintage treasures. The Night Market at Victoria Baths will also feature a Manchester DJ (to be announced soon) who will be spinning tunes all night long.
But that’s not all… The Night Market UK will also include an extra special addition to their Manchester Pool Party this October taking place in The Turkish Rest Room Salons. Three of Manchester’s most exciting singer/songwriters, Dilettante, Anna McLuckie and Ellen Beth Abdi will transform the exquisite Turkish Rest Room into a performance space, an intimate concert venue.
A hidden delight, it will become a cosy oasis of calm within the bustling market. The market organisers are handing this space over to the artists, each “owning the room” for a one hour concert set, with a line-up beautifully curated with care by one of the artists themselves, Anna McLuckie. From 6.30pm to 10.30pm each artist has a scheduled concert slot, a ticketed performance with the majority of the £10 ticket price going directly to the artist (80%).
Are you an Earlybird or a Night Owl? Choose your time slot for entry/arrival (you can stay as long as you like!), with discounted tickets after 9.30pm for you Night Owls (but be aware, food service stops at 10pm, the bar will stay open though). But it’s the Earlybird that catches the worm, so The Night Market are also offering discounted tickets if you buy two at once, but this deal is only available if you buy tickets in advance. Children are welcome, with those 12 and under able to enter for free.
Tickets are now available to buy here.
Visit The Night Market at Victoria Baths, Hathersage Road, M13 0FE, from 6pm-11pm on Friday 7th October.
