Sacha Lord is back with another freebie, but as opposed to paying for everyone’s food at a local restaurant, this time it’s free entry for a secret gig at a yet-to-be-revealed location in Manchester, plus free drinks. The Night Time Economy Advisor for Greater Manchester is set to host an exclusive gig for 300 people in a derelict Manchester venue to mark the launch of his new book.
Last year, it was announced that the Parklife and Warehouse Project boss would be publishing a tell-all book about the Manchester club scene. Tales from the Dancefloor will be available to purchase from April and recounts three decades of untold stories spanning Lord’s career.
Announcing the news on social media on Sunday evening (January 28), the Night Time Economy Advisor for Greater Manchester revealed that the one-off, secret event will be held at an undisclosed, never-before-used location in the city centre, which will be revealed to attendees the night before via text. The evening will kick off with a Q&A with Sacha Lord and co-author Luke Bainbridge, speaking on the unprecedented rise of Manchester and how the city became the capital of nightlife, before the venue transforms to host the exclusive launch party.
Revealing the news on social media, Sacha Lord said: “On the 11th April, I’m holding a book launch like no one has ever seen before. I’ve managed to find a derelict venue right in the heart of Manchester city centre. For just 300 people on the night there’s going to be a DJ, a bar with free drinks on me and a Q&A with myself and Luke Bainbridge, who co-wrote the book with me.
“The venue is a secret, no one is going to know where the venue is until the day before. All you need to do is click on the link, pre-purchase the book and then email your confirmation to party@talesfromthedancefloor.co.uk
“And to make it even better, on the night, everyone that leaves will be given three different mixes by three very well-known DJs, each mix covering a decade from the book. First come, first served. It’s going to be an amazing night, and I can’t think of a book launch that’s every happened like this before.”
The cover of Tales from the Dancefloor features imagery from The Warehouse Project and includes endorsements from rapper Aitch, Happy Mondays lead singer Shaun Ryder, and DJ Annie Mac. Sacha Lord, who co-founded The Warehouse Project and Parklife festival, will reveal behind-the-scenes accounts and exposés, including never-before-heard hair-raising stories on his early promoter years at seminal Manchester clubs like Sankeys, Home, The Haçienda and Paradise Factory.
To be in with a chance of attending the secret gig and book launch, a pre-purchase Amazon receipt for Tales from the Dance Floor by Sacha Lord must be emailed to the event’s dedicated ticketing email on party@talesfromthedancefloor.co.uk. Tales from the Dance Floor will be published by HarperNorth, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, on April 11, 2024 an can be pre-ordered from Amazon here.
