An ice cold pint is a top choice of beverage to enjoy in the sun but sometimes it’s fun to mix things up. With things hotting up in the city, some of Manchester’s bars, cafes and restaurants are offering some thirst-quenching creations to spritz up your summer and leave you feeling refreshed. So, without further ado, check out the most refreshing drinks in Manchester that you’ll want to be sipping (or chugging) all summer long.
1. Beer soft serve at Wolf at the Door
Resembling a refreshing slushy, the soft serve beer is made with Omnipollo’s ‘Bianca Godfeather Lassi Gose’, a fruity gose packed with the flavours of tart blueberries and raspberries, juicy pineapples, marshmallow, maple syrup, milk sugar and rock salt. If you’re new to the concept of the ‘gose’, the beer is fairly similar to a sour beer (in terms of the amount of flavour it carries), making it the perfect way to quench your thirst on those summery days.
Wolf at the Door, 30-32 Thomas Street, M4 1ER
2. Frozen Aperol Spritz at Smithfield Social
With pop-ups dedicated to the Italian aperitivo, many of us have got on the Aperol Spritz hype- but what if it could be even more refreshing? Alongside their mouth-watering cocktail list, The Smithfield Social have created some banging drinks that are calling you to drink them during this hot summer. Serving frozen Aperol Spritz that has a juicy orange flavour and mixed with the usual ingredients of Prosecco and Aperol, it’s like a grown-up slushie. The Smithfield Social has also introduced frozen Limoncello to their drinks menu for a tangy, boozy and ice cold drink to cool down with on their street terrace.
The Smithfield Social, 53 – 55 Thomas Street, M4 1NA
3. Skwishees at General Store
For a hit of nostalgia, get yourself to General Store. Located at their Salford branch is a slushie-style machine serving three different flavours of the ice cold drink. Choose from frozen raspberry, mad mango or spectacular strawberry- plus you can enjoy a mix of all three to create the ultimate Skwishee. Sugar-free and booze-free, we’ll be sipping on these all day at work.
General Store, 18 New Bailey Street, Salford, M3 5FS
4. Amalfi Sorbet Spritz at Black Milk
It seems Limoncello is having a moment this summer, and we cannot complain. Black Milk has taken the zesty liqueur and mixed it with Prosecco, lemon sorbet and a spritz of soda water to create an Amalfi Sorbet Spritz. Possibly one the most refreshing summer drinks in Manchester, so icy that you may want to sit in a paddling pool of the stuff. Manchester might not be the Amalfi Coast but sipping on this zingy concoction means we feel like we’re halfway there.
Black Milk, 88 Oldham Street, M4 1LF
5. Frozen Margaritas at Mackie Mayor
One thing we know for sure is that you can count on Manchester to do a good marg. Located in Manchester food hall Mackie Mayor, Eat Picos have a slushie machine churning frozen margaritas laced with lime and a good dose of tequila. These tangy cocktails pack a punch but will definitely take your body down a couple of degrees. Sip this chilli salt-rimmed bad boy in one hand and tuck into one of Eat Picos’ tasty tacos in the other- that’s how to do summer.
Mackie Mayor, 1 Eagle Street, M4 5BU
6. Pimms Sundown Spritz at The Lawn Club
Nothing says summer quite like Pimms. Emerging at barbecues and Jubilee parties across the country, it’s a staple of the season. However, over at The Lawn Club, they’re serving Pimms’ cool cousin Sundowner and spritzing it up. Featuring flavours of juicy raspberries and tart redcurrants, it has the perfect balance of sweet and sharp. Guests can enjoy a Pimms Sundowner Spritz as an individual cocktail, pitcher or even part of a bottomless brunch.
The Lawn Club, Hardman Square, Spinningfields, M3 3HG
