Expect an impressive array of LGBTQ+ literature.
Following almost a year of success online, Manchester’s first Proud bookshop, Queer Lit, is officially opening its first-ever brick-and-mortar store – with a location in the Northern Quarter confirmed to be taking up the role of ‘home’ for the groundbreaking new store.
Launched by Manc local Matthew Cornford during the pandemic after discovering a major lack of LGBTQ+ literature to browse, Queer Lit provides a safe haven for the community to discover, in the knowledge that each and every single book has been hand-selected thanks to its LGBTQ+ friendly narrative.
Taking up residence at 39 Tib Street, guests will be able to browse thousands of fantastic titles, with the bookstore growing its collection to over 1700 titles in just eleven months alone. If that wasn’t all, the team has also kindly split out the collection into helpful categories, such as LGBTQ+ history, Drag content, bisexual stories, gender stories, coming out stories and so much more, making for simple browsing when visiting both IRL and online.
Coinciding with Manchester Pride weekend, Queer Lit will open its doors for the first time ever this Friday 27th August, offering complimentary sparkling wine to guests that day to celebrate. Find them at 38 Tib Street, M4 1LX.
