Morrisons has done it again!
If there was an award for the supermarket doing the most during the Coronavirus pandemic, Morrisons would surely win it – after recently introducing a number of new services to help customers. New initiatives such as their £35 food box, deliveries to NHS car parks and a partnership with Deliveroo have proven mega-successful for the supermarket, and now, a brand new helpline aimed at the elderly and vulnerable has been created.
Making grocery shopping easier than ever before, the popular supermarket chain has formed a dedicated telesales team which will allow those who are struggling to get supplies place orders over the phone – with next-day doorstep delivery available as part of the service.
Each customer can choose from a ‘takeaway’ menu of 47 items, including a number of essentials such as milk, butter, eggs, pasta, fruit and flour. The brand new service has been created following a large volume of calls received from elderly customers, who were concerned about restocking their cupboards. Supermarkets across the country have been hit particularly hard during the pandemic, with demand for products increasing as Coronavirus cases in the UK grow – which has left many Brits unable to book grocery delivery slots or even pick up the most essential of items due to stock shortages.
David Potts, Morrisons Chief Executive said: “We are playing our full part in feeding the nation and ensuring those that are most in need can receive a delivery from a familiar face at Morrisons. This new telephone service will ensure that more people who can’t leave their home to go shopping will be able to get a delivery.”
Morrisons is hoping to spread the word to those who’ll benefit the most from the service via their Morrisons Community Champions, who’ll be popping postcards through the letterboxes of community members they know are likely to require help during this time. Not only that, but the supermarket chain has also invested in a new fleet of vans to fulfil the service, which colleagues will be able to use to make the deliveries.
