Following on from the news of three Greater Manchester restaurants being included in the Inspector’s latest additions to the Michelin Guide, followed by Climat last month, two more dining spots in Manchester have now joined the infamous list. Of the restaurants featured in the October edition of the Inspectors’ latest additions in the Michelin Guide for Great Britain & Ireland are two city centre spots serving up delicious food.
Six restaurants in Greater Manchester, including these two new additions, have now joined the infamous Michelin Guide list in the last three months alone, thus showing the world that Manchester is having its culinary moment. And what makes the achievement even more impressive is that the two Manchester restaurants added this month were not even open a year ago!

“This time last year, there wasn’t even a barbecue in the kitchen or furniture in the restaurant.”
Among the restaurants featured in the Inspectors’ latest additions in the Michelin Guide for Great Britain & Ireland was Stow, situated on Manchester’s Bridge Street, and run by Matt Nellant and Jamie Pickles, owners of Northern Quarter staple, Trof. Stow, which opened in late November 2024, offers a menu where everything is cooked entirely over live fire on the restaurant’s custom-built grill, as well as a great wine list and selection of cocktails.
Announcing the news on social media, Stow said: “Today marks a very proud moment for us and the team. This time last year, there wasn’t even a barbecue in the kitchen or furniture in the restaurant. Today, we’re officially a recommendation in the Michelin Guide. We’re so proud of our team.”

What did the Michelin Guide inspectors say about Stow?
The Michelin Guide said: “With its winning combo of cocktails and cooking over fire, Stow feels like a restaurant for our times. Start (and end) your visit with a drink in the front bar, before taking your seat at the counter in the tucked-away dining room.
“The small size gives it the feel of an intimate secret supper club, as you watch the chefs close-up, extracting maximum flavour from their ingredients. Prime cuts of meat, including ex-dairy beef, are a feature, but don’t miss the imaginative vegetable dishes too. Finish with the smoked cream tart, its gentile smokiness coming through in every mouthful.”

Making waves with their modern Thai cuisine
Joining Stow in the Inspector’s latest additions to the Michelin Guide this month was none other than Bangkok Diners Club, which opened in Ancoats in spring this year. Taking over the restaurant inside one of Manchester’s oldest and most iconic pubs, The Edinburgh Castle, Bangkok Diners Club have really been making waves with their modern Thai cuisine.
On the menu, you can expect the likes of smoked mackerel, grapefruit and ginger salad; ex-dairy beef nam tok salad with bone marrow aioli; artichoke and golden beetroot massaman curry; roast pork belly phat phet and rhubarb; Thai omelette with smoked mushroom nam prik pao; as well as chicken fat rice.

What did the Michelin Guide inspectors say about Bangkok Diners Club?
The Michelin Guide said: “A taste of Thailand has arrived, of all places, above a Victorian pub in Ancoats. Sitting on the first floor of the characterful Edinburgh Castle inn, it’s a lively, deservedly popular place with a cool rustic-meets-retro vibe.
“Despite the name, the cooking takes inspiration from all over Thailand, including several dishes from the northeastern Isan region, such as raw bass with calamansi nam jim or a classic papaya salad. Each plate looks neat and vibrant, delivering an array of well-balanced flavours and the occasional hit of creativity.”

What other Greater Manchester restaurants are featured in the Michelin Guide?
Stow and Bangkok Diners Club now join a wide selection of Greater Manchester restaurants featured in the Michelin Guide, including recent additions Climat, Pip, Winsome and Cantaloupe. Other restaurants who have joined the Michelin Guide over the years include Maya, Higher Ground, The Spärrows, Erst, Örme, The White Hart, Another Hand, El Gato Negro, Adam Reid at The French as well as Green-starred venue Where The Light Gets In, Michelin-starred spots, Mana and Skof.
