Manchester Flower Festival is almost here and to celebrate its return Manchester’s Printworks have announced a series of special events which combine bee keeping, honey tasting and cocktails, known as ‘Honeyworks’. And it’s causing quite the buzz! Taking place on Friday 26 May and Saturday 27 May, Printworks will be highlighting their rooftop bees for this year’s festival by hosting a ticketed event in their newly refreshed rooftop garden featuring four live beehives, each with their own Queen bee and 100,000 honeybees.
Working in collaboration with expert beekeeper, Damson from Hive5, the two-hour events will kick off with an exclusive beekeeping experience, where visitors will receive expert training on beekeeping with Manchester’s bees on Printworks’rooftop. There will also be an opportunity to check out an internal glass hive, featuring a Queen Bee along with all her worker bees.
The beekeeping experience will be followed by a delicious tasting session with Decorrum, a multi-award-winning spiced rum featuring honey produced from Manchester Printworks’ very own beehives. Visitors will then be invited to a fun cocktail making masterclass with Printworks’ Brazilian Bar, Floripa, where they will be shown all kinds of shaking tips from expert mixologists whilst making a line-up of bee-themed cocktails on their terrace.
You can also check out Printworks’ entry for the Manchester Flower Festival as the complex has transformed seven of their outside planters. Created in collaboration with Giraffe Flowers, The Honeyworks Bee Garden Planters will be filled with honeybee favourite flowers and plants, along with honeycomb inspired displays and gold bee ornaments.
The Honeyworks events will take place at Manchester Printworks on May 26 at 4pm and 5pm and May 27 at 12pm and 1pm. Tickets are £20 with all proceeds donated to Forever Manchester to help support the great work they do funding over 1000 community projects across Greater Manchester each year.
