The Manchester skyline is forever-changing and the best place to see it is up high, yet the city boasts only a handful of rooftop bars to see the views from. This, however, is about to change as Malmaison has announced it will be opening a brand new hotel in Manchester which has its very own rooftop bar that will overlook the city and beyond.
Sat a stone’s throw from the bustling Deansgate thoroughfare which connects the city’s many neighbourhoods, this 4-star property will offer 70 rooms and suites, many with views over the picturesque Albert Square. The lifestyle hotel brand is set to open the doors to Malmaison Manchester Deansgate on February 1, 2024 and it looks rather stunning.
Interiors have been given the ‘Mal Treatment’ taking inspiration from the city’s industrial heritage and contributions to art and music, juxtaposed with nods to the building’s brutalist façade. Guests can rest their heads in bedrooms that pay homage to the retro designs of the 60s and 70s, referencing the iconic G Plan furniture of this era. Illustrative murals will be a central feature throughout, featuring an artistic fusion of nature motifs.
Jonathan Livesey, Group Development Director at Malmaison & Hotel du Vin, said: “Malmaison Manchester Deansgate translates themes so intrinsic to the story of Manchester into its design while adding a dose of our signature Mal style including bold patterns, powerful colours, and striking artwork that will make a visit to Malmaison Manchester Deansgate a truly unique experience.”
As well as offering 70 rooms and suites for you to rest your head, the hotel also features the signature restaurant Malmaison Bar & Grill, which will seat 114 guests and serve a stylish fusion grill menu. The restaurant aims to offer contemporary takes on classic and seasonal dishes, carefully curated by Chef Director John Woodward, served alongside a curated wine list and bar menu.
Plus, the Manchester Deansgate hotel will also play host to the second rooftop bar and restaurant in the UK from Malmaison, known as Sora, the other located in York. The space will seat 116 guests across its restaurant and intimate terrace that overlooks the historic Manchester Town Hall. Here, guests can mix and match small plates from a selection of sushi, Robatayaki and Pan-Asian fusion style tapas dishes, and sip signature cocktails while taking in the striking view of the city.
Manchester Deansgate will be Malmaison’s eighteenth property in its UK portfolio, and it’s second in the city of Manchester. Standard room prices start from £120.20 room-only and £152.20 bed and breakfast. You can book your stay here.
