We love celebrating all kinds of cultures here in Manchester, with the annual Pride Festival, Chinese New Year and Gobefest bringing in huge crowds every year. Now, a two day Thai festival allowing visitors to experience the taste of Thailand is coming to Platt Fields Park in Manchester this summer, courtesy of Magic of Thailand, previously known as Manchester Thai Festival.
On Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 August, treat yourself to a weekend wonder and bring along your family and friends to feel a touch of Thai culture, where you can challenge your taste buds and feast your eyes on world class performances. Unwind with a traditional Thai massage and don’t miss the unique eating competition and Muay Thai boxing.
The festival starts with a traditional food offering to Buddhist monks and entertainment throughout the day including traditional music and dancing, Muay Thai boxing, a Ladyboy show, a Thai beer garden, Thai food and produce stalls, Thai massage, a children’s play area, and an intriguing ‘I’m British, Get me out of here‘ competition.
Get stuck into some of Thailand’s culinary delights including Pad Thai, green and red curries, Thai fish cakes, and so much more, alongside fresh Thai smoothies and drinks that’ll rock your world. This event is for all the family and acts as a celebration and an educational day out for everyone, including the family dog − just make sure they’re on a lead!
Tickets cost £5 for anyone 15 and over, with under 15s going free (when accompanied by an adult). Tickets can be bought on the day at the gate, however advance tickets bought online come with an entry into a raffle to win a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Thailand… it’s a no-brainer for us.
The Magic of Thailand Festival in Manchester will be open from 10am−7pm on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 August.
📍 The festival will take place at Platt Fields Park, Fallowfield, Manchester, M14 6LA.
