It’s Barbie release week, and we’re thinking all things pink. Apparently, the feeling is mutual with a fair few establishments around Manchester, and an already pink paradise has taken it a step further. Loaf Manchester on Oxford Road, adorned with the most gorgeous cake loaves, pastries and sweet treats, has enlisted the help of artist Emily – AKA Lobster House Studios – to create a beautiful homage to the icon, the legend, Barbie.
Depicting the doll that’s been around since 1959, the beautifully crafted mural drawn on the shop window of Loaf shows Barbie waving from her convertible pink Corvette, with the bakery encouraging customers to take a ‘Loafie’ (selfie), according to the Barbie-style graphic above.
Also launching today (July 19) to match the gorgeous Barbie-fied exterior is the limited edition Barbie Milkshake and mini loaf special, the details of which is being kept under wraps, but we’re pretty sure it’ll be pink, and delicious.
Of course, the usual delights will also be on offer, and pink treats include the Angel Delight mini loaf, the Pink Panther loaf and the Raspberry Loafnut (a doughnut made of cake) – you really can’t lose at Loaf this Barbie week, or any other week for that matter.
If that wasn’t enough, Loaf has also announced that drag queen Ellie Diamond will be dropping by today, gracing the new Barbie window with her take on Barbie! Whatever it all turns out to be, we’re sure it’ll be fabulous, and will all be kicking off at 3:30pm this afternoon – so get down there to see what it’s all about!
Once you’ve dropped by Loaf, there are so many other ways to celebrate the release of Barbie in Manchester this week, including the opportunity to see the film at the specially refurbished, unique Backyard Cinema, complete with a life-size Barbie doll box and a wealth of photo opportunities – let’s go party!
You can find Loaf at 83 Oxford St, Manchester, M1 6EG.
