Everything we know about The Lion King.
Ready to get hit straight in the feels? Disney has unveiled the first trailer for their live-action remake of The Lion King, and they’re pulling no punches.
The trailer opens with sweeping views of the African savannah accompanied by a familiar voiceover by James Earl Jones, who will reprise his original role of Mufasa (if it ain’t broke…).
The film follows the recent trend of classic Disney films being remade for modern audiences – including Beauty and the Beast and The Jungle Book, with Dumbo and Aladdin also on the cards.
Donald Glover will provide the voice for Simba, with Beyonce voicing Nala and Chiwetel Ejiofor taking on the role of Scar. Comic relief will come in the form of Timon (Billy Eichner) and Pumbaa (Seth Rogen), along with John Oliver as Zazu.
You’ve got a little while to wait to be king, though – The Lion King arrives in UK cinemas on July 19, 2019.
