And they’re even offering discounts for key workers!
As we finally enter the beloved Autumn season, our favourite events are starting to gear up for their Christmas openings – and giving a nod to all we’ve been through this year, Lightopia has confirmed they’ll be honouring our fantastic key workers at this year’s festival.
The award-winning light and lantern festival will showcase a ‘Local Heroes’ display, dedicating an entire area to our frontline workers who worked tirelessly to combat the virus this year. And as a thank you to those local heroes, they’ll even be offering a 20% off ticket discount, too.
The new display for keyworkers will feature a magically lit walkway, featuring the colours of the rainbow and a stunning display of the words ‘Thank You’, which will be lit up for all to see. Guests will be invited to take photos in front of it as a way to continue our thanks to key workers everywhere.
This year’s festival will, of course, adhere to social distancing rules to help families have an enjoyable experience, and will also feature brand new installations and a new route to explore – including a giant interactive walking piano, Santa’s sleigh and much, much more.
Commenting on the Local Heroes rainbow, Ava Moradi commented: “This area has a special focus on Key Workers. The NHS rainbow is an important symbol of 2020 and a strong reminder to people that the current situation has had an impact on people all around the world. This large-scale light installation is visually bright and stunning and will bring joy and happiness to those that visit it.
“Lightopia is a world in which light, sculpture and art combine with new and traditional Chinese lantern-making techniques, to create an immersive experience. This year, the new route has a real festive family-friendly feeling and a magical journey through lantern trails awaits!”
This year’s Christmas showcase will light up the historic Heaton Hall, and will also include a spectacular Astrology display, as well as a number of beautiful, Christmassy installations that are sure to be fun for the whole family. Tickets are available now, and can be purchased online here.
