Highlights of Tallinn Christmas market
The traditional Tallinn Christmas Market opened for its 25th year on November 21 in the Town Hall Square, within Tallinn’s Old Town, and will run until December 28. The star of the Tallinn Christmas market has to be the magnificent 14-metre Christmas tree, a central feature which has been set up in the Town Hall Square since 1441, making it the first Christmas tree ever to be put on display in Europe.
Decked with trees, Christmas decorations and lights and a possible dusting of snow in the old medieval square, this Christmas market not only provides all the festive feels but is reminiscent of a fairytale. Tuck into festive Estonian cuisine ranging from black pudding, reindeer sausages and sauerkraut to gingerbread, pancakes and cinnamon buns.

Thirsty? Tallinn Christmas Market is also home to the most extensive selection of mulled wine in Europe, with dozens of varieties, including cranberry-cherry, Setomaa raspberry-blackcurrant, and pumpkin. Plus, for the first time, visitors can also taste Hippocras, a spiced wine made using a medieval recipe.
You’ll also find various stalls selling handmade gifts like unique candles, contemporary ornaments, wool socks, sweaters, and hats, many of which are by local designers and artisans. For younger visitors, they can enjoy the merry-go-rounds too.

Getting to Tallinn from Manchester
A flight from Manchester to Tallinn with Jet2 takes just 3 hours and 15 minutes, and prices currently start from £54 one way during their Black Friday sale, depending on dates. If you’re looking to head straight to the Christmas market from Tallinn Airport, it’s a 15-minute drive, or it takes less than 30 minutes via bus (15 or 138).
The brand-new mini-series of flights and city breaks to Tallinn will launch from November 28, 2025 to January 2, 2026.
