‘Tis the season to visit a traditional Christmas market, and luckily for Mancs, there’s not only Manchester Christmas Markets but a host of small town ones just a short train trip away! And better still, you can get to some of them for just £2 one way on selected routes with Northern. Knowing that the big cities can get pretty crowded this time of year, the train operator has put together a list of some of their favourite small town Christmas markets to enjoy in the North of England.
Alex Hornby, Northern’s customer and commercial director, said: “We know how popular the big cities can be, so we wanted to do something to shine a light on the fantastic markets and events in the smaller towns we serve. We hope these great ticket prices will leave our customers with a little extra money to spend at the stalls. They can also avoid all the stress that comes with sitting in traffic and searching for a parking space during these busy events.”

The £2 tickets are available to Northern customers travelling to the following Christmas markets, up until three days before each event listed below:
- The Piece Hall Christmas Market in Halifax – November 14 to December 21 (on Fridays, Saturday and Sundays)
- Scarborough Sparkle – November 28 to November 30
- Lancaster Brewery Christmas Markets – November 28 to November 30
- Knutsford Christmas Market – November 29 to November 30
- Harrogate Christmas Fayre – December 5 to December 14
- Knaresborough Christmas Market – December 6 to December 7
- Buxton Christmas Fair – December 6 to December 7
- Skipton Christmas Market – December 7 and December 14

How to get a £2 ticket to these Christmas markets on Northern trains
The special offer is available to those heading to markets in Halifax, Scarborough, Lancaster, Knutsford, Harrogate, Knaresborough, Buxton and Skipton. Adults can buy single tickets – to travel on Northern services on selected routes – for £2 and child tickets for just £1.
They can be purchased at station ticket offices, from ticket vending machines and on the Northern website or app, at least three days before travel. Valid on Northern services only.
