Day trips out to swing in the jungle and take on bush tucker trials could soon be over as ITV has made the decision to close down the I’m A Celebrity Jungle Challenge at Salford Quays. The much-anticipated attraction based on the hit ITV show opened just last summer but bosses have announced that the place will close “with immediate effect.”
The family-friendly experience, which has been open for just 15 months, features tasks and challenges “based around the iconic Main Camp, Croc Creek and Snake Rock”. The huge attraction allows participants to face their fears and “test your nerve and agility”, collecting stars as they go (as they do on the show) with a series of trials throughout the 2,500 sq ft venue.
A statement on the attraction’s Facebook page states: “ITV has made the decision to close the IAC Jungle Challenge Attraction with immediate effect. All customers with future bookings will be automatically contacted via the booking email and fully refunded. Please allow 7 working days for the team to process your refund and for the money to appear back in your bank account.”
The I’m A Celebrity Jungle Challenge post also said: “If you have not received an email or a refund by Friday 11th November, please contact the Continuum Team at info@continuumentertainment.co.uk”
Based at Quayside, MediaCityUK, the brand attraction’s opening in July 2021 marked part of the redevelopment of the area – formerly the Lowry Outlet – which features a new state-of-the-art Vue cinema, a Virgin Active, and waterfront leisure and dining destination, The Watergardens.
The I’m A Celebrity Jungle Challenge which is due to close boasts a number of features throughout – including treetop zip lines, rope challenges and climbing walls – with the famous winner’s bridge marking the end of the challenge. There, guests are able to get their photo taken just like the winning celeb does on the show, before celebrating a victory on the Jungle Throne after conquering the Jungle Challenge.
The news of the Salford Quays attraction’s closure comes shortly after ITV announced the line-up for this year’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here, which comprises of Boy George, Sue Cleaver, Owen Warner, Scarlette Douglas, Mike Tindall, Charlene White, Chris Moyles, Jill Scott, Babatunde Aléshé, Olivia Attwood and Matt Hancock.
