Let’s face it, every one of us has been complaining about the grim wet weather we’ve been having so far this June. Now, we’ve had the news we were all waiting for, as the Met Office has forecast a blast of sun and much-needed warmth across the country from June 26 to June 28, set to reach highs of 26°C, yes, a heatwave in Manchester.
Using Met Office data, weather maps from WX Charts show that Birmingham, Cardiff, London, Newcastle and Manchester will enjoy the warmest weather, and of course, we’re calling it a heatwave.
For the next 10 days, experts at the Met Office said: “At first, the weather across the UK is likely to continue to be a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers, with some longer spells of rain also possible.
“Some showers are expected to be heavy and could be thundery at times. Temperatures will generally be around or a little below normal for mid-June, and it may well be breezy in places too.
“Through the weekend and into the following week, confidence in any particular weather pattern dominating becomes low. As such, the best forecast is for fairly typical June weather, with a mixture of weather types. This means some spells of drier, sunny weather but also some showers or longer spells of rain at times. Temperatures will most likely be close to or slightly below average.”
When it comes to Greater Manchester in particular, it looks as though we’ll just about catch the warm front, as the colours seem to peter out up towards Cumbria, with the warmest parts of the region looking to be the city centre and south west of it.
