Tucked away under Mancunian Way, Hatch Manchester has become a real hotspot for city centre dwellers, providing a stripped-back and diverse leisure space to enjoy any day, any time. Completely outdoors and consisting of only stacked shipping containers, the market-style spot oozes coolness, and not just because they’ve converted containers into teeny little restaurants.
The home to many independent traders, Hatch doesn’t just house restaurants, but mini bars and rotating shops selling items such as clothes, plants and even hairstyling services. The atmosphere is incredibly social, and provides the perfect backdrop for catching up with friends after work or on the weekend. Oh, and don’t worry about the weather either, since the whole space is sheltered by the above A road, Mancunian Way.
Traders regularly rotate, allowing for new vendors and independent traders to show off their amazing stuff, with Fuku, Oh My Cheesecake, I Knead Pizza and so much more currently proving popular with regulars. Try out delicious street food from countries such as Japan, Portugal, Greece, Spain and Vietnam – or enjoy a number of bar options including nano-brewery Öl, cocktail bar Miami Ice and the Hatch Tavern. Grab cocktails, locally made beers, or simply kick back with a coffee on your break in the open space, with huge outdoor tables dotted around with big heaters to keep you warm in the colder months.
The lovely space is like a day out in itself, not only providing spaces to sit, socialise and fill your tum, but also giving us plenty of shops to bob our heads in – from upcycled vintage clothing, plants, blooms and home-living, to barbers and even a tattoo shop on site.
Events are regularly hosted on weekends and evenings, providing live entertainment such as DJs and artists – with places to dance, sit or just chat for a more relaxed vibe. There are currently over 30 uber-creative traders operating at Hatch, with more and more opening as it nears its fourth birthday.
