Guinness is certainly not just for the colder months of the year or solely for St Paddy’s Day, as this August the popular stout returns to Manchester in style, serving up cold, smooth pints all summer long. Throughout the month of August, Mancs can sip on a refreshing Guinness at a pop-up bar within the city’s long-forgotten freight depot now food, drink and events hotspot, Escape to Freight Island.
Located just a short walk away from Piccadilly station, Escape to Freight Island is a great spot for soaking up the last of those summer rays and sip on a pint of the Black Stuff at the Guinness pop-up bar. Decked out with plenty of seating, Guinness-branded barrels to pop your pint on and a bar that has been built exclusively for the venue with a row of signature harp-shaped taps serving cool, draft Guinness from.
In collaboration with Skindog Surfboards, Guinness has also created a limited-edition run of bespoke surfboards. For a limited time only, guests visiting Escape to Freight Island will also be in with a chance to win their very own Guinness surfboard.
To enter, all you need to do is scan the QR codes dotted around the venue (check those Guinness beer mats and table talkers) and enter at the website you’re brought to – it’s as simple as that. Entries for the competition close on Friday 30th September and the winner will be contacted via phone in October.
Escape to Freight Island is putting on a full calendar of activities throughout the month, making it the perfect opportunity to enjoy unmissable events whilst sipping on a cool pint of Guinness. Some of the events taking place this August include Tramp! Sound System, where Will Tramp returns to the Ticket Hall every Friday to bring deep house, disco, and 80’s love funk to turn Escape to Freight Island into an NYC roof-top party including dancers and live percussion; and Sounds by Bugged Out!/Disco Pogo where you can escape every Sunday to a new alfresco BBQ, family disco, pop-up shops and the finest music selectors.
Plus, there’s Drag Mania, the mini touring convention celebrating all thing drag, ending in a huge drag show with RuPaul’s Drag Race powerhouse superstars including Alyssa Edwards, Kandy Muse, Nick Doll and Aja, taking place on August 19. And with Manchester Pride arriving this month, Escape to Freight Island is hosting Love is the Message, four days of music, discos, parties, and pride, from August 25 – 28.
