Now, one of Manchester’s favourite sandwich shops has been named one of the best in the UK, and it had some seriously tough competition.
The UK’s sandwich scene is well and truly thriving and to find out which ones are the most loved, Betway Casino has ranked 80 sandwich spots across the UK using the following metrics: Google review ratings, Instagram hashtag volume, and annual Google search volume. To decide which sandwich shops to rank, they took to Reddit and online articles to collate a list of recommended locations across the country.
The Manchester spot named one of the best sandwich shops in the UK
Manchester’s very own Fat Pat’s ranks seventh among the UK’s top 10 sandwich shops. Tucked away down a Chinatown ginnel, Fat Pat’s has been serving up next-level subs since 2022 and has become an icon in the Manchester food scene.
Despite a lower 4.2-star rating on Google, it has become a viral sensation, attracting nearly 400,000 annual Google searches and 1,992 posts on Instagram.

- Piqniq by La Chouquette (Didsbury) ranks 17th.

The UK’s best sandwich spots
Beigel Bake is the UK’s most popular sandwich shop with over one million searches every year. An East End icon known best for its salt beef filled beigels, Beigel Bake has been serving its famous beigels on Brick Lane since the 1970s. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, it’s no surprise this legend has racked up over one million annual Google searches and nearly 12,000 Instagram posts under its hashtag.
Sandwich Sandwich, which has four locations – two in central London and two in Bristol – comes in second place, with plenty of other London spots appearing too. Outside of the capital, the likes of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Leeds join Manchester with some of the highest ranking sandwich shops in the UK.
