Sandwich lovers rejoice as local legends Bada Bing, famed for their cult New York-Italian style hoagies inspired by the television show The Sopranos, are back with a bang with plans to open in Manchester once more. Saying a sad farewell to Mancs back in 2022, the people of Manchester can now finally enjoy their whopping subs – so big that they’re hard to get your gob round them – for lunch once again. And a reopening date has now been revealed, with big fat hoagies back this September.
Emerging as a go-to spot for sarnies following the lockdown era, Bada Bing took the city’s foodie scene by storm, bringing packed New York-Italian-style hoagies filled to the brim with Italian deli meats such as gabagool, mortadella and Napoli salami to Manchester. Closing in February 2022 after a seven-month tenure at Ancoats General Store, The Sopranos-inspired deli and sandwich shop that took its name from one of the main locations featured in the iconic US show (yes, the strip club) had us wondering when we would get our next taste of New Jersey. And alas, our sandwich prayers have been answered.

Bada Bing teased their return on social media with a video inspired by the opening credits of The Sopranos, with Alabama 3’s Woke Up This Morning playing, but in this case it sees a car cruising along the streets of Manchester as opposed to New York. The car passes the sandwich shop’s previous pop-up locations, B Lounge, Ancoats General Store and Block 23 in Ancoats, before parking up outside their new gaff on Oldham Street in the Northern Quarter.
Set to take over 125 Oldham Street, owners Sam Gormally and Meg Lingenfelter, who began Bada Bing as “a little lockdown project” whilst on furlough, haven’t yet revealed an opening date but the new unit should hopefully be open sooner rather than later. Their most famous hoagies had to be The Bing (gabagool, pistachio mortadella, salami, provolone cheese, tomato, lettuce, red onion, giardiniera and mayo) and The Muffaletta (smoked ham, roast turkey, salami, provolone cheese, olive salad and gochujang mayo).
Like any good thing, it takes time, but we absolutely cannot wait to get our chops round these huge hoagies. The official reopening date of Bada Bing has been confirmed as September 19 and we have a feeling they’ll be back with a bang.
