It was quite the surprise when Bada Bing announced, after just a short and sweet 12 months, they’d be ceasing trading for the unforeseeable future. But alas, here we are in their final week of slinging top tier hoagies wondering when, oh when, will we get our next taste of New Jersey.
Ending their seven-month tenure at Ancoats General Store this Sunday, Bada Bing will continue serving daily ’til they sell out on Sunday 20th February, before going out with a bang at Track Taproom on 25th February.
Announcing their decision to close last month, the founders said in a heartfelt Instagram post: “Unfortunately our time has come to an end at Ancoats General Store. Obviously we are absolutely gutted as I’m sure you all will be as well!
“General Store have decided its time to make way for a new trader and we are to be out in 4 weeks time, meaning our last day will be Sunday 20th February. This means the future of The Bing is a little uncertain…
“Bada Bing started as a little lock down project between myself (Sam) and Meg whilst on furlough and has grown beyond what we could have possibly imagined sitting on the couch that evening binge-watching The Sopranos. For now, The Bing will have to take a little break. At least whilst we regroup, plan for the future and figure some bits out, but (hopefully🤞) we will return, bigger and better than ever serving up the subs you all deserve.”
The closing party at Track Taproom will see Bada Bing serve up some classic favourites after a whirlwind of a year, promising “a few old favourites on the menu and potentially some slightly intoxicated sandwich makers come 12. Possibly even tears? Who knows!”. The bash will kick off at 12 noon-midnight/they sell out, and is set to be the perfect way to help Bada Bing “go out in style”.
It’s currently unknown if and when Bada Bing will return, however, the sandwich deli certainly made its mark on the Manchester foodie scene in its respectable 12 months, and when it does return, there’ll be some pretty hungry sandwich fans queueing up for their fix. See you on the flip side, Bada Bing.
