Back for 2022 and here to lift our spirits, Dunham Massey has confirmed the return of their stunningly festive illumination trail, which is set to take place from this November. The after-dark illuminated trail will be bringing all the festive feels to the historic National Trust venue, along with three new light installations.
The event, which will be its sixth run this Christmas, will transform the beautiful formal gardens and deer park with festive lights trailing throughout. The incredible installations are undoubtedly a sight to behold, with plenty to see for kids and adults alike. Gasp at the huge strobe effects that flood the park and waterside with colourful lights, walk through light-covered tunnels (brilliant for photos) and walk alongside artistic-looking light sculptures.
Curated installations this year include larger-than-life Lilies, a multi-coloured laser garden and Light a Wish by OGE Group, which resembles several heads of fluffy dandelions floating in the night sky. A new work will be Gladioli Tunnel, by UK-based arts collective Jigantics, will see lit arches of multicoloured flowers bathe visitors in a myriad of different lights.
Matthew Findlay, Head of UK Trails for Sony Music/Raymond Gubbay Ltd, said: “We are hugely excited by the plans for this year’s trail, with artists creating beautiful, new installations which will provide even more ‘wow’ factor for 2022.”
At Dunham Massey you’ll also find independent street food vendors serving tasty treats as you walk past the glimmering light installations created for this year. Complete your walk under the stars with a spiced winter warmer or hot chocolate or by toasting marshmallows over an open fire for a warm and sweet seasonal treat.
Christmas at Dunham Massey kicks off from November 18 and officially closes on January 2, 2023. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased here.
