Things were looking bleak back in January when Manchester institution Black Dog Ballroom closed for good, but now there’s some good news for the iconic Northern Quarter plot. Bolton bar dedicated to Oasis, Definitely Maybe, is making moves in the citeh, with owners Paul and Mark Gallagher (yep, Gallagher) opening a new Definitely Maybe bar in the old Northern Quarter Black Dog Ballroom spot.
Announcing the new spot on Facebook, the owners echoed the more famous Gallagher brothers’ reunion announcement, saying: “The Guns have fallen silent…. The stars have…. Yeah yeah yeah.
“So we are opening an additional venue in central Manchester, in The Northern Quarter, in the famous Afflecks!!!!! (Palace). The 350 capacity venue will be a shriiiiiine of all things Oasis with our usual Live Music experience and an exhibition style history lesson of the bands early days through to the present day re-union.
“With 5 dates at Heaton Park next year, whispers of new music and a world tour on top of one of the biggest band re-unions we have ever witnessed, if ever there was a time to take what we do to the home of our heroes it is now!”
Definitely Maybe will take over the former Black Dog Ballroom plot in the same building as the iconic Afflecks, at 52 Church Street, celebrating the band that has seemingly brought the nation back together, for better or worse. It promises to offer some of the best tunes from back in the day, just like the original Bolton bar, alongside some of the music that inspired Oasis, and those they have inspired, right up to the moment.
Any Oasis, Manchester or general music fans in general will want to check out the brand new Definitely Maybe bar when it opens in the Northern Quarter in early December – it’s definitely (maybe) refreshing to hear some positive news rising from the ashes.
📍 Definitely Maybe will be located at 52 Church St, Manchester, M4 1PW.
