Toast Rabbie Burns with a wee dram of Scotch and a bite of chocolate!
The Christmas and New Year’s festivities may have flown by but that doesn’t mean you have to succumb to the January blues. Follow in the footsteps of the Scots who, unlike the rest of the world, keep the drinks flowing and the shenanigans going in the first month of the year. Saturday January 25 is Burns Night, one of the biggest events in the Scottish calendar, and this year The Glenlivet is celebrating with a unique tasting experience.
Nothing says Burns Night like a dram (or two) of Scotch, but this year why not try a tradition-breaking twist by adding a wee spot of sweetness to the mix. For one night only The Glenlivet is hosting a luxury chocolate and whisky tasting at The Loft, Manchester. So you can pay homage to Scotland’s most beloved bard with some fine company and some even finer whisky! This is not an event to be missed if you feel like getting fancy this January.
In each 90-minute session 10 guests will have a chance to make their very own creamy Belgian truffles and flavour their creations with their favourite whisky. The experience will also include a guided whisky tasting and a The Glenlivet dram and nosing glass to take home. No one’s leaving Robert Burns’s birthday party without their goody-bag!
Chocolatier Sam Higgy from Oli The Choc’s incredible team will be making his legendary chocolate truffles and offering his expert suggestions on how to pair them with the finest single malts. Whisky and chocolate make the perfect combination because of their similar tasting notes. In a guided tasting guests will sample three distinct whisky flavours alongside three chocolates (white, milk and dark – there’s something for everyone) and experience the complementary notes behind them.
Then, become a connoisseur yourself! Uncover the secrets of Scotch in a detailed masterclass that walks guests through the process of creating their own whisky-flavoured truffles from scratch. This guided workshop is the best way to experience a lesson on the craftsmanship behind whisky pairing and become a master at manipulating the flavours and aromas yourself.
It’s a neat opportunity to learn more about whisky in the hands of some of the industry’s finest. But it’s not just a learning activity: guests can also enjoy some delicious The Glenlivet cocktails at the bar afterwards. So, don’t forget to raise a glass to Robert Burns!
Tickets for The Glenlivet Burns Night Chocolate & Whisky Tasting can be bought here. There will be two workshops available on January 25 2020 only. 18+ only. Please drink responsibly.
