You just can’t beat a cold pint of beer. However in this economy, cost is a pretty big factor when it comes to deciding where (and how much) to drink. We have plenty of drinking establishments here in Manchester, but you’ll never be short of people complaining about the price of a pint, so when we hear of a cheap spot, we’re quick to jump on it. Luckily for us, both Bury and Bolton have been revealed as the cheapest places in England for a pint.
The average cost of a pint in the UK is £5.17. But depending on where you’re drinking in the UK, you could be spending considerably more or less than that. To find out how much prices differ, Alliance Online researched the average cost of a beer in cities and towns across the UK – revealing where it is cheapest.
The North West snags positions one to three in England, with Bury, Bolton, and Blackpool all coming in with beer averaging from £2.75 to £3.25 per pint. These towns are all within an hour’s journey of each other, which could come in handy for punters planning a pub crawl. Bury and Bolton both have a lot going for them, what with growing town centres and increased accessibility, but tend to be easily dismissed – well, the joke’s on us because this has reflected in the beer prices.
Both Greater Manchester towns have their fair share of independent and chain pubs and bars, so there’s plenty to choose from, and the locals are always friendly, whether you’ve been for a mooch around the shops or a walk in the surrounding countryside. So, why not visit Bury or Bolton for one of the cheapest pints in England?
In the UK rankings, only Wrexham beat Bury and Bolton, with the average price of a pint coming in at £2, so if you fancy the trip to Wales, it might be worth it.
