When one finds themself in a car park, you’d usually park up your vehicle and well, leave. However, people are flocking to a rather random car park in Manchester for a very different reason than simply parking their car… Not only setting itself apart from the crowd when it comes to location, Manchester sandwich spot Brodega doesn’t serve your classic butties for lunch, but instead chopped cheese subs reminiscent of the ones found in New York City.
Located in the car park at the Universal Building in Ardwick, Brodega is the lunch spot you didn’t know you needed – and the walk from Manchester city centre is worth it. And being based in a car park, means you can of course come and collect by car.
Brodega has created their own take on the NYC-style sandwich typically found in a bodega (a small grocery shop), hence the choice of name. The Brodega chopped cheese sub consists of similar ingredients found in a burger such as 100% Aberdeen angus beef, onions, and cheese, but instead, all of these are chopped up together “like it owes us money” on a griddle with their special house seasoning. Along with tomatoes, lettuce, crispy onions, mayo and hot sauce in the mix, this is all added to a freshly baked semolina milk roll.
As well as your classic chopped cheese subs, visitors to Brodega in the Ardwick car park can add double fried buttermilk chilli chicken o their sub. You can also opt to make it a meal with a drink and side such as fries, chicken tenders or tater tots.
Another thing that Brodega is doing to set themselves apart even more from the strong sandwich game here in Manchester, is that they serve their meals in custom-designed trainer boxes. By packaging meals in this way, Brodega aim to offer their customers the same exciting experience you get from opening a new box of trainers as they do opening a box with delicious meal complete with a freshly-made sub.
The Brodega team’s love for subs and sneakers goes further as they have created a Sneaker Sunday series highlighting customers with unique trainers and the story behind them. And those willing to flash their creps to the camera, can even snap up some goodies.
