After Chorlton favourite The Creameries closed in 2022, with the team taking on a new venture, the sought-after space on Wilbraham Road was up for grabs – and the Blanchflower team grabbed. The dog-friendly bakery and canteen space in Chorlton will be called Blanch, boasting a relaxed café setting with restaurant-style food including fresh pasta and Roman style pizza.
The high street stretch will be glad for the addition, joining the likes of Brewski Bar and Chorlton Tap, both of which are long-term Manchester favourites.
With a refreshingly small menu, OG bakery and café Blanchflower, with stores in Altrincham and Sale, has been serving South Manchester since 2017, with a speciality of ingredients ‘you can count on one hand’. The simplicity of the business plan will likely translate to the new Blanch bakery, serving no-nonsense goods in a laid-back atmosphere.
Whilst pizza and pasta will be front at centre at Blanch, the team will be constantly working together to fuse their skillsets in all areas, meaning the Chorlton canteen and bakery will work in perfect harmony. This is what Blanchflower has been working towards, and with all that practice we just know it’s going to be amazing.
The amalgamation of the café and restaurant is something Blanch will really hone in on, ensuring that European style of casual dining at any time of day that makes you feel like you’re on holiday. That quality of simple food done right will be so at home in Chorlton, and takes the Blanchflower empire in a productive direction, allowing customers to walk in, take a seat and enjoy – just like that.
Blanch will offer breakfast and lunch on a daily basis, with all-day brunch served on weekends, as well as opening late for dinner, drinks and snacks on Fridays and Saturdays. We don’t know about you, but we’re buzzing for this to get going!
Once up and running, you can find Blanch at 406 Wilbraham Rd, Manchester, M21 0SD.
