Arcades are a staple in the UK’s seaside towns – and now they’re becoming a hit across the rest of the country, too. Whether you’re looking for a nostalgic trip down memory lane or a taste of the latest releases, arcades are popping up in UK cities and towns, including Manchester, and more specifically, Bury.
VegasSlotsOnline has done the research to find out the most popular arcades, analysing things like Google reviews, search volumes and the average time spent in popular arcades around the UK to reveal the best of them all for some pixelated fun. On top of that, they’ve also researched some of the best seaside resorts to pair your arcade adventures with, based on things like average temperatures, reviews and the number of activities to do.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Arcade Club in Bury came second place in the whole of the UK, just below the Leeds location, putting Greater Manchester on the map when it comes to retro gaming and arcades. Having recently been featured in the popular Fool Me Once on Netflix, Arcade Club holds an impressive Google review score of 4.8 out of 5, with reviewers praising its “huge selection of games”, “remarkably low prices” and “chilled atmosphere”.
People spend an average of 3.25 hours here, which is only slightly less time than at the branch in Leeds, and it’s just a brief 0.8 miles walk from the nearest train station. One thing Arcade Club in Bury does hold over its Leeds location is search volume: there are an average of 12,100 searches per month for “Arcade Club Bury”.
Arcade Club Bury boasts the largest collection of video arcade games in Europe. Spread across four floors of gaming heaven, experience the long lost classics, dance floors, rhythm games, bizarre rarities and brand new imports you won’t find anywhere else – all lovingly cared for by the team and made available to you, free to play. There are more than 300 games and attractions at the Bury arcade alone, so the trip out of the city centre is most definitely worth it.

Arcade Club Bury beat out gaming spots in the likes of Brighton and London, with Arcade Club Blackpool coming in fifth place and another arcade in Greater Manchester which also made the list was 1UP in Didsbury. Blackpool also came third in the research in terms of the best coastal resorts in the UK, so the Arcade Club there could be a great shout if you want the best of both worlds – it’s less than two hours from Manchester.
Blackpool is also the second most affordable location in the study, with an Airbnb costing only £584.32 for one week, so if you’re after more than a day trip, why not give a staycation a go?
