We love a rooftop bar and luckily Manchester is blessed with quite a few, however one sky-high spot in the city towered over the rest in a latest study, crowning it one of the ‘best in the world’. Manchester’s 20 Stories has been named as one of the best rooftop bars in the world – beating out some stunning and scenic venues across the globe including ones in Sydney, Istanbul and Bangkok.
In a study by Mandoemedia.com, 200 of the world’s rooftop bars were ranked on a number of factors including customer experience, price and social media shares in order to find the best place to grab a drink with a view. Bangkok’s AkaAza Bar came out top thanks to its its pool bar and panoramic views of the city’s skyline, followed by two Spanish rooftop bars, The Rooftop at Serras in Barcelona and Terraz at the Principal in Madrid.
The Spinningfields rooftop bar, 20 Stories, came in fifth place after another Barcelona hotspot, La Isabela at Hotel 1898, due to having 56% of visitors leaving an excellent review of TripAdvisor. The restaurant and bar on Hardman Square also had more than 5,800 social shares on Instagram, while its £27 price tag for a bottle of wine also allowed them to score highly.
The Manchester venue was also the highest ranking rooftop bar in the UK overall, with London’s Madison and Roof East coming in at 12th and 14th place. These bars were also followed by two Liverpool venues, Five and Liberté in 23rd and 24th place. Manchester’s Cloud 23, based at the Beetham Tower in Deansgate, was the only other bar from the city-region to place in the overall top 200 of the best rooftop bars in the world, coming in at 128th on the list.
