Although Manchester Christmas Markets will be making its annual return with their timber chalets, there’s so much more going on in the city when it comes to festive shopping and yuletide fun. Ancoats Pop-Up, well known for its outdoor markets at Cutting Room Square and KAMPUS, is bringing the city of Manchester its biggest indoor Christmas Fair this winter.
Taking place from November 19 then every Saturday and Sunday up until the week before Christmas, visitors to Canton House in Manchester’s Chinatown can expect 50 independent traders filling three floors of the building. Plus, there will be a cafe and creative workshops by Manchester Urban Digger (MUD) alongside evening entertainment and cocktails by Witch Kings Rum.
Alice Longson from Ancoats Pop-Up, said: “This is our biggest takeover to date! Spanning three floors of Canton House has been epic to curate and nearly a year in the making! We have over 200 traders joining us across the festive period alongside MUD who will be running a cafe and creative workshops.
“There will be family friendly activities across each weekend. Saturday evenings we will be seeing Witch Kings Rum showcasing local musicians and selling their iconic cocktails and rum drinks. We are so proud of the creative community in Manchester and were excited to bring them this great venue and a festive twist on our monthly market!”
Saturday nights The Witch Kings are bringing back their live music pop-up and will be providing their innovatively mixed bohemian concoctions using their range of artisan rums. This Pop-Up series celebrates a return to their live music roots, with their pick of the finest local performers gracing the Canton House stage on Saturday nights, 6pm -11pm.
On the third floor of Canton House you will be able to find MUD kitchen, usually situated at Platt Fields Market garden. The team will be serving fresh food daily and hot drinks by Grounded MCR and they will also be hosting family activities and creative workshops for you to book onto.
Plus the Christmas Fair is not all that Ancoats Pop-Up has up its sleeves as they’ll also be at KAMPUS between November 11 and December 18, taking over The Bungalow by bringing a little slice of The North Pole and offering a carefully curated selection of handmade crafts and foods for you to buy. There will be hot drinks for you to enjoy whilst checking out the shop and keeping warm on those long winter days.
In the evening, the pop-up will be hosting their Craft Club where you can join a local creative in making your own Christmas gifts this year. From wreath shaping to candlestick making they will have a great selection of workshops for you to book onto this year.
Ancoats Pop-Up encourages shoppers to think local and buy quality handmade gifts this season, giving back to the economy directly by shopping at their Christmas Fair and KAMPUS pop-up for all your gifts and treats this Christmas.
