Aldi has revealed that it’ll be swinging open the doors of 24 shiny new stores between now and Christmas. Following the opening of a store in Hattersley, Greater Manchester and a recent trading update, the wallet-friendly food shopping spot announced its rather hefty expansion plans. The annual update outlined the company’s store opening programme as well as its continued commitment to cutting prices and ongoing plans of making more long-term agreements with British suppliers.
Aldi has been serving up low-price produce in the UK since 1990, and it now boasts 1092 stores across the country. That number will continue to soar over the next 10 weeks, as nearly 30 more branches are set to be added to the roster. Aldi has been named the UK’s cheapest supermarket for the past 5 years on the trot. And so I’m sure that the pre-Christmas arrival of these cheap-and-cheerful grocery stores will be welcomed with open arms (and open carrier bags).
