Is it too early to start scoffing chocolate eggs?
Every year is a vicious cycle of eating all the novelty food at Christmas, gaining a few unwanted pounds, trying to be good again, and then ruining it all at Easter. There’s no running from it, it’s just another downside of adulthood. And it doesn’t help that every year, our favourite brands and supermarkets come out with brand new chocolatey inventions that we just have to try.
Raising the chocolate-moulded bar for Easter this year, Aldi has created the perfect artisan Easter Egg range for adults – and two of them are infused with alcohol! The eggs-quisite range is incredibly pretty, with six eggs to quietly scoff while your housemate is out for the evening.
The budget supermarket will be bringing back their absolutely massive eggs from last year too, including their giant white chocolate Ostrich Egg, which weighs in at a whopping 800g! The Giant Dragon Egg will also make a re-appearance, featuring impeccable details that could mistake even a Targaryen. The Dragon Egg also weighs 800g, so might be best to hatch in instalments!
For those who like their sugar a little bit more lavish, Aldi has two perfectly pretty eggs decorated with intricate butterfly details – and they’re almost too pretty to eat! The milk chocolate eggs are hand-decorated, with one even featuring a gold lustre Belgian blonde chocolate egg inside.
New for 2020, however, are the real showstoppers. Infused with alcohol, the Gin white chocolate egg and Prosecco and raspberry milk chocolate egg are sure to have shoppers in a craze this year – and they sound absolutely delicious. The Gin egg is infused with gin and juniper, all shaped into a white chocolate hollow shell, with the Prosecco egg combining the complimenting flavours of both Prosecco and raspberry within a milk chocolate shell. They probably won’t get you drunk, but they’re certainly for adults only, making the occasion officially for us grown-ups too!
The alcohol-infused eggs are on sale now for just £4.99, with the remaining eggs in the range landing in stores March 15.
