Manchester rapper Aitch has made the region very proud in the last few years, winning his first BRIT Award just last month, but now he’s got another achievement in the pipeline for a very good cause.
The 23-year-old, whose real name is Harrison Armstrong, announced on Twitter that he will be jumping out of a plane along with his dad this week, with all donations going to the Down’s Syndrome Association. The charity aims aim to create the conditions that all people with Down syndrome need to live full and rewarding lives.
Harrison has been an ambassador for the DSA since October last year when he made a massive donation himself, inspired by his younger sister Gracie who has the condition. He also constantly shares his love and pride for his sister, and this seems to be his next step in helping the cause – hence the announcement being followed by a sweet, smiley photo of Gracie.
When Aitch was made ambassador last year he said there was “nothing more important in the world” to him than his sister, and even wrote the song My G on his debut album for her.
Aitch states on his World Down Syndrome Day Jump page: “My little sister Gracie is an inspiration to me and my family, so becoming an Ambassador for the Down’s Syndrome Association, DSA, the only charity in UK which addresses all aspects of Down’s syndrome, means I can help to promote the profile of the DSA on a global basis and here at home in UK, hopefully engaging and educating more younger people along the way.
“By representing the DSA, I hope I can make a difference for my sister and everyone else around the world with Down’s syndrome, who have as much right to a fully inclusive life as the rest of us. I can’t wait to get started.”
The jump will challenge Aitch to skydive from 15,000 ft and will take place on 25th March. You can donate in support of Aitch and the DSA here on the run up to and after the event.
