When it comes to football rivalry in Manchester, I’m Switzerland. After all, we’re home to two pretty amazing teams, both of which have contributed to our city’s rich sporting history – most recently Man City, with their epic treble win just last year. But before that happened, rival team Manchester United made history with a treble win of their own, way back in 1999. And now, the incredible achievement is set to be revisited in a brand-new Prime documentary series, aptly called 99.
Airing on Amazon Prime this May 17th, fans will be able to re-live the moment that Manchester United won three trophies; the Premier League, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League – achieving the first-ever treble win in English football history.
25 years later, 99 promises to explore not only the victory itself but behind-the-scenes in the locker room and at home with the team of that time (which included legendary players such as David Beckham, Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Dwight Yorke), alongside what life was like at Old Trafford during that season, with interviews from numerous team members and even Sir Alex Ferguson himself.
The three-part series has been produced by the same team behind the renowned Beckham documentary, and joins Prime’s stellar array of sports content, including Ronnie O’Sullivan: The Edge of Everything, We Are Newcastle United and Rooney on the global streaming platform.

This documentary news comes as rivals Manchester City released their very own Treble documentary series on Netflix earlier this year, so once again these two fierce competitors go head-to-head at the very top.
Fans can watch all three episodes of the 99 documentary series on May 17th with their Prime Video subscription in the UK.
