Think you can take on the Killer Carolina Reaper Karahi?
It’s getting hot in here thanks to Indian restaurant Zouk, and my nose is running even at the thought of it. Celebrating National Chilli Day in a truly honourable fashion, Zouk has created the ultimate test of pain tolerance – and it’s certainly not for the faint-hearted.
Their brand new dish is made with the world’s hottest chilli, the Carolina Reaper, which scores a whopping 2,200,000 on the Scoville scale. Ouch. For comparison, a Jalapeno scores just 8,000 – so it’s quite a big jump from your usual spicy kick of choice.
The restaurant will be serving up the special curry especially for the day and due to its mammoth heat, those who dare to take on the challenge will receive a complimentary brunch for two if you finish it. The Karahi curry is traditionally known for its spicy taste, usually made up of garlic, ginger and a spicy Masala base.
The challenge will take place on 27 February between 12pm and 7pm and must be booked in advance here. All the better to prepare yourself (and your tummy) ahead of time!
