The World’s 50 Best Bars 2023 have now been revealed alongside the extended 51–100 list for its seventh year, and one Manchester cocktail bar is up there. The annual list is decided by a voting panel comprising over 650 independent drinks experts, from renowned bartenders, educators and consultants to drinks writers and cocktail specialists.
The 51-100 list includes bars spanning over 30 different cities across the world, which includes multiple new entries on the list, with some cities featuring for the first time such as Tirana, Guangzhou and Guadalajara.
Europe continues as a stronghold for cocktail culture, with a total of 17 bars on the list across 13 cities, with the UK leading the way. It also marks the second time a bar outside of London or Edinburgh has been represented on the 51-100 list, with Schofield’s Bar in Manchester coming in 95th place.
And it’s not the first time that Schofield’s Bar has achieved an accolade for its marvellous cocktails as last year it came in at No.59 in the World’s 50 Best Bars extended list and earlier this year the Spinningfields bar came in 16th place in the Top 50 Cocktail Bars in the UK. Plus, back in May, Schofield’s Bar won ‘Best Bar in the North’ as well as ‘Bar of the Year’ for the second year running at the CLASS. Bar Awards.
Of the 14 Asian bars on the list, Singapore leads the 51-100 with eight bars, with 28 HongKong Street being the highest ranked of the country at No.59, followed by Manhattan at No.63 and Nutmeg & Clove at No.64. The US has six bars on the 51-100 list, out of a total of 11 across the Americas, which includes four bars in New York, one in Los Angeles and one in Chicago. In addition, Danico in Paris came in at No.51 and Sips in Barcelona at No.1, with four London bars featured on the 51-100 list not forgetting five bars on the 50 best list.
The list of The World’s 50 Best Bars 2023, sponsored by Perrier, was revealed at a live awards ceremony at Pasir Panjang Power Station in Singapore on October 17.
