Therme Manchester, the UK’s largest wellbeing resort, is gradually moving forward towards completion as a major milestone has been reached. The £500m resort will combine the largest thermal pool complex in Europe under one roof and will be home to its very own ‘urban beach’. There will be more than 25 water slides, the largest sauna area in the UK, multiple steam rooms, and a wave pool for children and families.
Construction on Therme Manchester started in September 2025, and earthworks by P.P. O’Connor began in April 2026, defining the site for the first time.
Major milestone for Therme Manchester
Earlier this month, Therme Group announced a major milestone with the first of 12 tower cranes being erected on site, marking the start of a new phase of construction for Therme Manchester.
Therme Group said: “Over the coming months, these cranes will play a key role in bringing our vision to life. Creating an amazing destination where wellbeing, relaxation and fun come together.”
Therme Group and Marriott International partnership
In addition, Therme Group has also announced that it will be teaming up with Marriott International to reimagine wellbeing in travel and hospitality. The partnership aims to blend Therme’s expertise in large-scale wellness and longevity with Marriott’s global reach, seamlessly integrating health and relaxation into the modern guest journey.
Therme will work directly with the Marriott Design Lab to prototype and test innovative designs, services, and operational enhancements. Initial rollouts will focus on Marriott Bonvoy members, offering exclusive travel and lodging packages linked directly to Therme destinations.

When will Therme Manchester open?
Once complete around the end of 2028, Therme Manchester will become one of the largest urban wellbeing resorts in the world. An official opening date will be announced nearer the time.
