We’re always happy to welcome a new drinking establishment to Manchester, and following the opening of music-led bar on Thomas Street Renae earlier this year, another option has popped up in the quirky form of a pub and cocktail bar. The Morris is the highly anticipated second venue from Dan Berger, founder of the much-loved and Top 50 cocktail bar, Blinker, and is set to bring together three distinctive drinking experiences under one roof.
On the ground floor, you’ll find a welcoming pub — equal parts comfortable and refined. Expect all the beloved hallmarks of a classic local: beers from nearby breweries (including Track, Cloudwater and Manchester Union), nostalgic bar snacks, a soundtrack of local talent, and a relaxed, come-as-you-are atmosphere where guests are encouraged to gather, linger, and stay as long as they like.
Upstairs, the mood shifts to a playful retro cocktail bar, complete with a funky 80s vibe. Here, the drinks menu leans bold and nostalgic, brimming with creative takes on classic favourites and flavour-packed originals. The Morris cocktail bar also offers a huge range of carbonated sips, all inspired by the good old days, including Cheeky Vimto and Drumstick fizzy cocktails, all from their state-of-the-art taps.
Classics are also done extremely well here, with the expert bartenders able to whip up the likes of martinis, margaritas and all sorts in the shake of a lamb’s tail, and the intimate space works with exquisite new décor to create an ambience that remains unmatched. Perfect for a romantic date, or a night in the booth with friends.
Rounding out the venue is a stripped-back top floor event space, designed for versatility. Featuring its own bar and DJ booth, it’s the perfect setting for everything from daytime meetings and creative workshops to lively late-night private parties – this one isn’t ready yet, but in due course The Morris will run as a three-floor offering, quite unlike anything else in the area.
