Thomas Street has seen its fair share of footfall, what with the infamous Chanel Metiers d’Arts fashion show taking place along it back in 2023, and being one of the most popular areas in Manchester for nights out, post-work drinks and all sorts of other businesses. Now, adding to the roster is renae, a music-led bar and venue, created by two long-time friends with a shared love for the creative and cultural scene in Manchester.
Opening its doors on Friday 28th March, renae will blend a cosy daytime shop – featuring a curated record shop by Patrick Ryder (formerly of Piccadilly Records) and pop-up book shop by 20k and a dead sheep. There will also be an intimate bar that flows from day into night, serving craft beers, natural wines, and cocktails at accessible prices.
The first phase of opening is its ground-floor bar boasting a bespoke DJ booth and Manchester’s only L-Acoustics Syva sound system (technical, we know, but important), crafted by the city’s leading sound designer Soundhaus. It’s designed to showcase the diverse programming at renae – from jazz nights and ambient sessions, to album launches, label parties, music workshops, plus resident and guest DJs on rotation.
Launched by local DJs and hospitality workers Brad Parkins and Harris Mouridis (AKA Mouridis), renae draws from the pair’s expertise in nightlife, bringing together their shared passion for music – so we’re pretty confident in saying, it’ll provide the perfect vibe come morning, noon and night. renae will move into the site between Cane & Grain and Terrace NQ – a prime spot – with work having taken place over the past couple of weeks, visible to any passersby.
With a focus of music and culture, renae seems the perfect match for this Thomas Street spot right in the centre of the Northern Quarter, and it’s set to suit Manchester right down to the ground.
📍 renae opens on Friday 28th March at 45-47 Thomas Street, Manchester, M4 1NA.
