It seems all eyes are on Manchester as more and more hospitality names seek to open in the North West city – and it’s not just dining spots in London either. The Cut and Craft, a stylish all-day dining and experience restaurant that is an absolute hit across the Pennines, has now opened a new venue in Manchester.
The Cut and Craft already has restaurants in both York and Leeds and promises “luxury dining and drinking within elegant yet timeless settings”. With a focus on quality steak and sustainable seafood, the restaurant is perfect for indulgent dinners, leisurely lunches, bottomless brunches, evening celebrations and impromptu treats – and now Manchester can get a taste from April 28.
Located on the corner of Mosley Street and York Street, The Cut & Craft will be housed within the former Manchester and Salford Bank, now Bond by Bruntwood SciTech, a Grade II* listed building dating to 1862. The former banking hall, which later housed the Royal Bank of Scotland from 2001 to 2020, has been taken over by The Cut and Craft as well as the noble apartment with towering ceilings, plus transforming the former subterranean vaults into unique private dining and entertainment spaces.
Originally designed by famed Mancunian architect Edward Walters, recognised for his adopted Italian style, the historic landmark is the final extravagant palazzo style building in the city. Steeped in history, the Victorian building boasts a wealth of original features, intricate cornicing on its double height ceiling, which stretches to nearly 27 feet in height, and is met with tall elegant floor to ceiling windows allowing sweeping light into the banking hall.
The food at The Cut and Craft Manchester
The restaurant is renowned for its exceptional selection of premium locally-reared steaks, as well as a menu of expertly delivered fish specials.
To start, guests can enjoy Carlingford Oysters and Rockefeller Oysters, available as three or six, in addition to Exmoor Oscietra Caviar and Imperial Beluga Black Caviar which feature throughout the full menu. Available as bumps as part of the signature house caviar plate, the delicacy can also be enjoyed within a variety of dishes including Seared King Scallops with black caviar, celeriac & spinach purée, pickled red onion, spicy yuzu sauce and Spiced Roasted Baby Potatoes with caviar and crème fraiche.
Premium cut steaks are met with a wide selection of house made sauces and sides including dauphinoise potatoes, cauliflower cheese croquettes, buttered mash, macaroni cheese, truffle & Parmesan fries, and wedges of charred Hispi cabbage with tahini and chorizo. Elsewhere signature dishes include Cajun Monkfish and Grilled Sea Bass Fillet, plus vegetarian and vegan selections including Halloumi Fajitas, Redefine Flank Steak, Grilled Peach and Cauliflower Salad, and Vegan Shepherd’s Pie.
The Cut and Craft is also known for their huge Sunday roast sharing boards with a selection of sirloin beef, roasted half chicken and pork belly (because one meat is not enough) and complete with all the trimmings. Plus, the luxury doesn’t stop there as the restaurant will be bringing their special bottomless Champagne and Whispering Angel Bank Holiday brunches to the city.
The Cut & Craft Manchester will be hosting their first bottomless Moët & Chandon Champagne brunch on Sunday 4th May. Tickets are priced at £90 and include 90 minutes of bottomless Moët & Chandon Champagne, a delicious meal with choices including steak and seafood, live entertainment, DJ and dancers. Those who’d prefer just drinks can also book a drinks only table for £75.
The drinks at The Cut and Craft Manchester
However, it’s not just the food that is said to turn heads but also the cocktails at The Cut and Craft. Taking centre stage is a stunning destination bar, crafted with rare Brazilian blue labradorite marble, serving premium cocktails including “crafted tales” where diners go on a journey with their drink as well as classic and signature cocktails with plenty of theatrics such as smoke and candy floss creations. They even serve Pornstar Martini and Espresso Martini flight boards, which allow you to try the classic cocktails in three different flavours.
The former subterranean banking vaults have also been transformed to house exclusive 22-seater private dining area, glamorous restrooms (so stunning you might not want to leave), and an elegant Champagne cellar that is an Aladdin’s cave when it comes to wine. The latter of which offers guests the opportunity to explore rare wine and Champagne variations, many of which are unique to Manchester, including Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage and Chateau D’Esclans Les Clans Rosé.
Guests can also enjoy a collection of classic and signature cocktails including Peppermelon, a spicy twist on a watermelon margarita, Tokyo Mule which combines Japanese vodka with ginger beer, and The Architect, a cocktail unique to Manchester – combining tequila, St Germain, mint and Prosecco, inspired and named to celebrate architect Edward Walters.
