It seems all eyes are on Manchester as more and more hospitality names seek to open in the North West city – and it’s not just dining spots in London either. The Cut and Craft, a stylish all-day dining and experience restaurant that is an absolute hit across the Pennines, has now set its sights on Manchester to open a new venue.
The Cut and Craft currently has restaurants in both York and Leeds and promises “luxury dining and drinking within elegant yet timeless settings”. With a focus on quality steak and sustainable seafood, the restaurant is perfect for indulgent dinners, leisurely lunches, evening celebrations and impromptu treats – and now Manchester can get a taste.
Located on the corner of Mosley Street and York Street, The Cut & Craft will be housed within the former Manchester and Salford Bank, now Bond by Bruntwood SciTech, a Grade II* listed building dating to 1862. Bond will see its former banking hall, which later housed the Royal Bank of Scotland from 2001 to 2020, taken over by The Cut and Craft as well as the noble apartment with towering ceilings, plus transforming the former subterranean vaults into unique private dining and entertainment spaces.
Originally designed by famed Mancunian architect Edward Walters, recognised for his adopted Italian style, the historic landmark is the final extravagant palazzo style building in the city. Steeped in history, the Victorian building boasts a wealth of original features, intricate cornicing on its double height ceiling, which stretches to nearly 27 feet in height, and is met with tall elegant floor to ceiling windows allowing sweeping light into the banking hall.
The restaurant is renowned for its exceptional selection of premium locally-reared steaks, as well as a menu of expertly delivered fish specials. These are served alongside treats including freshly-shucked oysters, Exmoor caviar and hand-cut beef tartare with breaded yolk and sesame croutons.
Elsewhere, the menu features the likes of grilled monkfish and king scallops, as well as crowd pleasers such as fish and chips, grilled lamb cutlets and a signature 10 oz flat iron steak, which is butchered by an expert team in house. The Cut and Craft is also known for their huge Sunday roast sharing boards with a selection of sirloin beef, roasted half chicken and pork belly (because one meat is not enough) and complete with all the trimmings.
However, it’s not just the food that is said to turn heads but also the cocktails at The Cut and Craft. The restaurant features “crafted tales” where diners go on a journey with their drink as well as classic and signature cocktails with plenty of theatrics such as smoke and candy floss creations. They even serve Pornstar Martini and Espresso Martini flight boards, which allow you to try the classic cocktails in three different flavours.
In a LinkedIn statement, Oscar Akgul, Co-Founder at Lucia and The Cut & Craft, said: “Manchester is soon to have The Cut & Craft and in all honesty we simply cannot wait. Our new venue is located on Mosley Street inside the iconic Grade II* building. Filled with history and its original features including vaults, soon to host private dining, combined with state of the art ladies room, “gossip room” and sommelier lounge.
“Our new restaurant will be filled with elegant yet timeless style settings giving you the ultimate luxury at accessible prices. Working closely with the local authorities to bring back this rare building to its glorious days…”
The Cut and Craft opens in 2024 at 38-42 Mosley St, Manchester, M2 3AZ.
