Oh, how we love a game show here in the UK. And The Cube is no exception. Prime tea-time viewing and hosted by national sweetheart, Phillip Schofield, the show has it all – including the “I could do that EASY” factor. So, if you’ve ever sat there screaming at the telly while a contestant royally effs things up – now’s your chance to show off your skills, once and for all.
Opening up within the Arndale inside a brand new ‘Urban Playground’, The Cube Live recreates the gameshow IRL for fans to take on – marking the first live experience in the show’s 13-year history.
Promising to be “Manchester’s biggest and best experiential day out” yet, the unique new venue allows guests to step into the famous perspex cube to take on a series of seemingly simple tasks – some of which you may recognise from the show itself. The game boasts seven iconic games – both single and double player, just like on the show – and will require participants to showcase serious skill, nerve and determination in order to beat The Cube.
Additionally, Urban Playground will also be home to Tech-Infused Mini Golf, Putters and award-winning burger bar THE BUTCHER – which is making its way over to the UK from the Netherlands for the first time ever.
Allowing guests to take part in the “best putting experience in the world”, Putters consists of nine tech-infused holes, where groups of up to six can challenge one another to a game of mini golf. The game is amplified by on-screen animations and audio, along with a scoreboard, where players can fight to become the best player in Manchester that day.
At THE BUTCHER, guests can fill up on delicious ‘haute couture’ burgers, that have become famous across Europe, made from the very best Aberdeen Angus beef. If that wasn’t all, guests can also take advantage of a fully-stocked bar serving cocktails, wines, beers, liqueurs and more.
Holly Pye, Commercial Director at Objective Media Group says of the opening: “We are very excited that The Cube is joining Urban Playground. At last members of the public will get the opportunity to play these iconic games for themselves and get a taste of the adrenaline.”
Urban Playground is open now, and you can find it near Foot Asylum in the Upper Mall, Corn Exchange side. Get tickets here.
