A woman from Greater Manchester has restored the Spice Bus to its former glory.
Get ready to have your lives well and truly spiced up, because you can now spend a night in the very same Union Jack-clad bus made famous by Spice World: The Movie.
The iconic Spice Bus was been converted into Airbnb accommodation back in 2019 by Spice Girls superfan, Suzanne Godley who hails from Greater Manchester.
The Union Jack-painted double-decker, which was home to the girl band in their 1997 film Spice World had been travelling around the UK as part of the SpiceUp exhibition. Now, Ms Godley is giving fans the chance to live like the girls and spend a night on board the bus.
Available throughout the summer and beyond, the bus – which was originally parked up at Wembley Park in London – has now parked up in the Isle of Wight, with guests able to use it for a summer staycation after months in lockdown.
Ms Godley said guests will have the run of both floors, which have been lovingly renovated with little nods to each of the Spice Girls and some fairly bold interiors. The bus can sleep up to three people, with two sharing a double bed and one on a single day bed.
The driver’s seat remains at the front of the bus (sadly without Meatloaf). And towards the back, there’s a spacious seating area with a table and three Union Jack cinema-style chairs for relaxing in front of the TV or listening to Wannabe on repeat on the old school CD player.
There is a double bed at the back of the bus, as well as a day bed, which can accommodate a third guest if needed. There is also a separate dressing room area, complete with rail and dressing table – perfect for Spice Girl-inspired makeovers.
Ms Godley said: “My greatest love is the Spice Girls (after my children and partner of course). I adored their music growing up and used to choreograph routines to all my favourite songs!
“I watched Spice World on repeat and never thought I’d get the chance to go inside the actual Spice Bus – so to get this opportunity and now be able to share with other fans is just a dream come true.”
She said: “I’ve been lucky enough to work with some amazing designers on converting the bus into accommodation with the support of Airbnb, and I can’t wait to share it with my fellow fans.”
Bookings for the Spice Bus are open now on Airbnb.
