We’ve seen the likes of Hello Kitty, Stitch and Spongebob grace the Primark cafes of Manchester city centre and the Trafford Centre, and now it’s time for Shrek. The Shrek Far Far Away Cafe has arrived at both Manchester Primark stores, with an entire menu of Shrek-themed food and drink that sounds just disgusting enough for the ogre himself β although actually very delicious.
Decked out with stills from the films and props galore, the Shrek Far Far Away Cafe is set to be sticking around until November. The menu boasts the likes of the ‘Swampchos‘, ‘Onions have layers‘ and ‘Donkey’s waffle strips‘, bringing savoury and sweet together in an indulgent yet ogre-ific combination.
You can also get your hands on potions, bubble tea and swamp juices, including the ‘Eyeball martini‘ β much sweeter than they sound β plus mud pie hot chocolate, Gingy’s latte and all your usual coffee shop favourites.
Spanning the end of the summer holidays and October half term, the Shrek cafe at Primark is great for keeping the kids entertained, and indeed providing some much-needed Halloween inspiration as we approach spooky season.
Of course, the Shrek cafe at Primark is perfect for the whole family, but us big kids are pretty excited about it too. Not only making up four of the top ten highest lifetime grossing DreamWorks Animation animated movies, Shrek and all his friends have made a huge impact on culture and the lives of those who were children between 2001-2007, so this nostalgia trip is very welcome.
So, don your dirty leather waistcoat, fill up on earwax, and get yourself over to the Shrek Far Far Away Cafe at either Manchester Market Street Primark, or Primark Trafford Centre.
