Forget the standard chocolate haul for a moment. A pub in Woodford, Cheshire is transforming the humble egg into a culinary event with its very own Scotch Egg Week. The Davenport Arms is celebrating the long weekend with a menu dedicated to the classic British snack, running until Saturday, 4th April.
With its exposed brick walls and real log fires, it offers a warm retreat to gather with friends and try something different, and with Easter coming up quick, there’s no better day trip to take from Manchester.
A platter of handcrafted Scotch eggs
The main event is a platter designed for sharing, allowing you to sample every variety on the special menu for £29.95. The journey starts with ‘The Classic‘, a seasoned pork Scotch egg served with a sharp house piccalilli.
It continues with a nod to local flavour in ‘The Manchester‘, which features black pudding and pickled onion alongside a mustard mayo. The menu also includes a Smoked Haddock version with a fragrant curried mayo and a hearty vegetarian cheese and onion Scotch egg accompanied by a sweet house tomato relish. Each one features a crispy coating and a perfectly jammy, orange yolk at its centre.

The grand finale: A deep-fried Creme Egg brownie
Just when you think you’ve reached peak egg, the dessert arrives. The pub has created a playful take on an Easter favourite: a Cadbury’s Creme Egg wrapped in a rich chocolate brownie, which is then deep-fried and served with vanilla ice cream. We seem to have reached heaven at this point – how very apt for Easter weekend!
This unique menu is only available until Saturday, 4th April, so you’ll need to be quick. Booking is highly recommended to secure a spot for this limited-time experience.
