Add pretty much anything to a kebab and we Mancs will lap it up. And the best of them all? A kebab stuffed full of Chinese salt and pepper chicken and chips from Salt & Pepper!
Choices include lightly battered salt and pepper chicken, tofu, calamari, and prawns, with the famous Salt & Pepper fries also available to be included inside the wrap on request, gyros style.
Wraps are topped off with slices of house-pickled cucumber, fresh chilli and a generous sprinkling of sesame seeds, adding even more flavour to the street food favourites. Their speciality bread is baked nearby in Manchester, consistently providing Mancs with a soft and chewy base perfect for salt and pepper fillings.
The restaurant that started life as a stall in Arndale Market describes its style as “a merging of the East and West”, and with kebabs being a Manchester staple that Salt & Pepper has brought new and exciting flavours too, like the Chinese kebab, we believe that to be a goal they have very much achieved.
Other options on the menu include prawns and calamari rings, loaded fries and chicken wings, and of course all their other wonderful kebab fillings. Wash it all down with a Lucky Buddha beer and you’ve got the closest thing to heaven in a kebab.
On their opening in their permanent High Street restaurant in late 2022, Salt & Pepper said in an Instagram post: “From the bottom of our hearts, we can’t thank you enough for supporting us and all your kind words”, following selling out of their products much quicker than expected.
All we can say is please do get down there and show your support, if not for one of the mouthwatering Chinese kebabs, at least to support a local independent business long term – we have to do everything in our power to keep local places afloat, because even the most thriving ones have had recent shocking exits! We’re sure, though, with creations like this, Salt & Pepper will be around for a very long time.
