A special RAF aircraft flypast is set to take place this weekend in the Greater Manchester town of Stockport. The flypast forms part of the Krazy Races event, the UK’s largest touring soapbox derby, which is set to transform Stockport into a high-energy, family-friendly spectacle.
Following Totally Stockport BID Company’s previous success working with the Krazy Races team to bring a Lancaster bomber flyover to Greater Manchester, this year’s event will once again feature a spectacular aviation highlight. The event will see a spectacular flypast featuring an aircraft from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. This flight is renowned for preserving some of the RAF’s most iconic historic aircraft and honouring the legacy of those who served during the Second World War.
In addition to the flypast, the soapbox derby event will also feature the Italian Auto Moto Club, showcasing a stunning collection of iconic vehicles displayed throughout Stockport’s iconic Marketplace.
What time will the RAF flypast take place in Stockport?
Krazy Races has confirmed that the flypast will feature the Douglas C-47 Dakota aircraft and will take place at approximately 2.45pm on Sunday 9th August.
This iconic aircraft is considered to be one of the most successful military transport designs in history. The Douglas C-47 Dakota aircraft carried paratroopers on the eve of D-Day, evacuated casualties and re-supplied forces throughout World War Two. So, visitors to Krazy Races in Stockport will get to see a true piece of history soar right above them.
